After the Storm

A tranquil two-lane highway through the Jemez Mountains opens vistas across broad mesas that are the gateway to the Rio Grande Rift Valley. In the distance, the purple, cloud-clothed Sangre de Cristo Range forms the eastern side of the rift. A winter storm has just passed, and the silence of a new snow covers the land.
